EOCO Boss Denies Taking Bribe From NAM1

Earlier in the day news broke that ,some EOCO officials who took bribe from the CEO of Menzgold, Nana Appiah Mensah have been exposed by the brother of the embattled CEO.

Stanley Kodia, known as KOD and the supposed brother of NAM1 leaked some names of individuals who allegedly took bribes from Nana Appiah Mensah to defend him.

In relation to this, Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO) has urged the public to disregard the ‘false’ information circulating on social media that the Chief Executive Officer of EOCO,  had received luxurious vehicles, phones and an undisclosed amount of money to meddle in the ongoing investigation on Menzgold.

EOCO in a press statement signed by its Head of Public Affairs, Jacqueline Avotri, stated that the video circulating on social media was falsely created because EOCO incurred the wrath some customers of the gold trading company after freezing the assets of Menzgold and its related companies.

“The video is malicious and slanderous with the main aim of destroying the image of the Office and the reputation of the Executive Director. The supposed brother (KOD) of Nana Appiah has no basis for his allegations. We wish to state clearly that the statement is totally false.”
“The office is of the opinion that the freezing of the assets of Menzgold Company limited and its associated companies has incurred the displeasure of some beneficiaries of the assets of Menzgold Company limited which may have prompted the video in circulation.”

EOCO also further assured the public of free and fair investigations and that they would not be compromised in their duty of retrieving and preserving the assets owned by Menzgold and its associated companies.

“The office is further assuring the general public that we have a duty to perform and would continue to secure the asset of Menzgold Company limited and its associated companies in accordance with our mandate as confirmed by the order of the court.”

EOCO secured a court order on the 29th of January, 2019 to freeze all landing properties and vehicles associated with Menzgold Ghana.
