News information coming in from a member of Parliament, Honorable Alexander Afenyo-Markin has revealed that the government of Ghana has reduced the e-levy from the former 1.75% to 1.5%.

The minister who was speaking during an interview with Joy News revealed that the government upon consultation with the telcos and other relevant people has reduced the tax placed on mobile money services.

According to him, the new directive would help ease the issue of the tax being a bit high for people who would be making transactions using the e-levy.

Speaking about the reduction in the tax levy he stated saying;

The mere fact that we have approved of the policy which the policy is talking about government intension to at least look at the e levy of 1.75%. When it comes to the actual law to give government the power to take that levy. When it comes to the Bill, government has shifted it from 1.75% to 1.5%.”
