News information coming in from Bawku has revealed that the government of ghana through the ministry of Interior has called for the ban of smocks in the town.

According to a statement that was released the Upper East Regional Coordinating Council had advised the government to ban the wearing to smock as part of measures to curb people from hiding harmful objects into them.

The new directives from the council come after it was said that some unscrupulous people were hiding arms and ammunition in smocks to attack residents.

The council was said to have further imposed a curfew on the people in some parts of Bawku as part of the directive.

A portion of the statement read;

“Following the decision taken by REGSEC during the emergency meeting, the wearing of smock in Bawku Township has been banned with immediate effect. This was necessitated by the fact that criminals or unscrupulous elements hide arms and ammunition in smocks and attack opponents or innocent civilians,”
