Ghanaian highlife musician, songwriter, producer, and composer, Gyedu-Blay Ambolley has crowned Bisa Kdei as the King of Highlife in Ghana.
The crowning of Kuami Eugene by Amakye Dede as the King of Highlife in Ghana, according to many, was undeserving and unbelievable as they argue Kuami Eugene is not a highlife artiste.
Gyedu-Blay Ambolley, who is a highlife legend has also revealed Kuami Eugene is not purely a highlife musician plus his angela song is empty.
But the legendary musician who is particular about identity has revealed there is still one musician in Ghana who does highlife and should be commended for lifting the genre – Bisa Kdei.
According to Ambolley, Bisa Kdei is the only highlife artiste in Ghana. He added that the Mansa hitmaker, broke grounds with the genre and was accepted by Ghanaians because of how pure his highlife was.
He further stated that if anyone should be crowned the King of Highlife, Bisa Kdei should be crowned king.
Ambolley, however, criticised Bisa for switching from what he is known for to suit the masses.
It is on record that Bisa himself has claimed to be the saviour of highlife music. Not long ago he was in the news for saying no one can break his record, not even after his death.
He has been tagged a funeral artiste, a tag he keeps on challenging, but Ambolley thinks otherwise during an interview with Attractive Mustapha.
