Amaarae Early Life
Ama Serwah Genfi was born on the 4th of July, 1994 in New York by Ghanaian parents Ama Bawuah and Kwadwo Boateng Genfi. She is the elder of two children and was raised between Atlanta and Accra.

She began to develop a passion for music at the age 0f 13 where she wrote her first song. She started making mix-tapes at high school and by the time she was 17, she took an internship at a music studio. She undertook voice training while studying English literature at the University before she eventually returned to Ghana in June 2017.
She came through with her debut EP “Passionfruit Summers” in November 2017 and in April 2018, she was named one of Apple Music Africa’s Favorite New Artists.
Amaarae released her debut studio album “The Angel You Don’t Know” on November 12, 2020.
