#WaakyeLivesMatter – Ghanaians are probably tired of the rate at which these brand experts are branding almost every commodity including the food we consume and how it is packaged before delivery.

Lately, we have come across photos of various foods being packaged in jars- Salad jars for that matter – which has sparked discussions on social media.

Waakye, a local dish that was previously served in leaves and sometimes in polythene bags is now packaged in a glass jar as if its salad, all in the name of branding.

Ghanaians have kicked against this new trend which has seen the likes of Yam, and plain rice also being packaged in glass jars.

Currently, #WaakyeLivesMatter is trending number one in Ghana as Ghanaians express their views on this new packaging.
