The Ghana movie industry has been in existence since 1980 after conquering the European cinemas who at that time were the only people producing movies in the country.
Ghana since that time has created a lot of stars in the movie industry who are now doing very well for themselves in their various lives.
The likes of actors Rev. Chris Essie, Mr. Ernest Abbeyquaye, Mr. kwaw Ansah, and a few others were some of the people who through an initiative by the first president of Ghana Kwame Nkrumah formed a government-owned Ghana Film Industry Corporation (GFIC) which started the production of movies in Ghana.
