Ghanaians are taking advantage of the current situation to produce inferior hand sanitzers and sell it at very affordable prices to people who are in dire need of sanitizers to save them from the deadly coronavirus.
Without the knowledge of the Food and Drugs Board authority, findings have proven that some people in Kumasi mix their own ingredients thus cassava starch and locally distilled gin, ‘Akpeteshie’ claiming it is a sanitizer.
They empty bottles of original hand sanitizers and fill the bottles with their own ‘sanitizers’ which is a mixture of akpetesie and cassava starch.
A Kumasi-based Journalist, Barima Kwabena Owusu who blew the cover of these bandits wrote” Abeg no bore —
Someone sold this, starch missed with alcohol as hand sanitizer to a taxi driver for GHS90… Herhh nipa yɛ bad saa yɛ forkin 🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️ ”

Last week, Nana Aba Anamoah, Criss Waddle and other celebrities literally lost their cool over the hikes in prices of hand sanitizers following the novel coronavirus pandemic cursing those taking undue advantage over the situation.
There has been a mad rush for the product which has been recommended as one of the surest ways of staying safe, this led to sales outlets including pharmacies cashing on and selling the product at very high prices.
But of what good will that be?
