Despite the many rejection reactions from Nigerians, Mr. Ali Ndume, Chairman of the Senate Commitee on Army has declared his full support of the proposed Social Media Bill.
To him, there is nothing wrong in having a social media bill that seeks to control the spread of false news. He added that anything that anything that is not controlled can be disastrous so people need to he held accountable for what they put out on Social Media.
The bill referred to as ‘The Protection from Internet Falsehood and Manipulation Bill’ was proposed by Mr. Mohammed Sani Musa and it has passed its second senate hearing.
According to Mr. Musa, the bill should be approved to help do away with the spreading of false news on via Social Media.
A host of Nigerians have kicked against the bill because according to them, it will infringe upon their rights and put an embargo on the press.
