#SaveOurData: Parliament summons MTN, Vodafone, & AirtelTigo to appear before it over high cost of data

Netizens have forced the legislative arm of Government to summon MTN, Vodafone, & AirtelTigo to appear before parliament tomorrow.

According to sports journalist Saddick Adams Obama, the increment in data charges has reached the desk of Parliament.

In a recent tweet sighted by Gossips24.com, the parliament of Ghana wants to find out of from telecommunication companies the main reason behind the increment in data cost.

He tweetd; “BREAKING: Ghana’s Parliament has summoned the Telcom Companies to appear before it tomorrow to explain high costs to data after public outcry via #SaveOurData

This comes after MTN Ghana rolled out some new data plans with no expiration but it correlated with a massive slash on data packages.

For instance, ¢3 daily data bundle which offers 500mb was slashed to 127mb at the same amount and the same applies to all other data packages.

MTN after suffering public backlash apologized to their customers in a short notice. Their message read:

Dear Valued Customer,
MTN has experienced some challenges on some of our channels post-implementation of the adjustment of prices and our new data bundles.

We are working around the clocks to resolve the issues as soon as possible.
