Revealed: Amidu Rejected All Board Sitting Allowances As Special Prosecutor

In the wake the resignation of the Special Prosecutor, Mr. Martin Amidu, there has been a latest revelation that points out to the fact that, he rejected all allowances that were paid to him for attending board meetings.

According to him, the time spent attending the board meetings were no different from his normal working hours, and therefore, didn’t see the need to receive allowances for such a purposes.

It was reported that, He ordered his accountant to pay all such monies amounting to GH¢12,696 back to chest on Monday, 17th November, 2020.

The said amount was meant for six different meetings he attended with his board between the period of December 2018 to May 2020.

Mr. Amidu was presented with a cheque for an amount of GH¢5560, meant  as board allowances from August to December 2018 on December 21st, 2018.

He was later paid GH¢1440 each, meant for four other board sitting allowances.

The latest of payments made to him was an amount of GH¢1376, as allowance for sitting in an entity tender committee meeting on May 21, 2020.

With this latest revelation, it remains to be seen, what actions government is going to take on this matter, since it appears Mr. Amidu clearly has a great integrity and passion towards accountability.
