Prof Banji Akintoye, the Yoruba Nation’s leading force says he is unconcerned about the Federal Government’s alleged conspiracy to arrest him.
Ilana Omo Oodua, the self-determination group’s leader, declared this in a statement released on Sunday captioned, “I am in Republic of Benin with Sunday Igboho, not on the run – Akintoye.”
The 86-year-old history professor was responding to the exclusive allegation that the ex-Senate member in the Second Republic left Nigeria around three months ago after uncovering a scheme by the President’s regime, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) to arrest him.
Akintoye and embattled Yoruba Nation agitator Sunday Adeyemo alias Sunday Igboho have both been seen attending news conferences and demonstrations in support of Yoruba Nation’s separation.
Igboho, who is presently detained in Cotonou, was wanted by the Department of State Services for allegedly hoarding guns to destabilize Nigeria under the guise of the Yoruba Nation, which he denied.
