Incoming president of Argentina Alberto Fernandez has publicly disclosed that he will make abortion legal after he is officially sworn-in as president of Argentina.
Alberto Fernandez who is the President elect for Argentina will be having his swearing-in ceremony on December 10, 2019.
In an interview with one of the local media outlets in Argentina, the country should expect to see the proposed legislation’s arrival in Congress before the year ends.
Fernández said he intends to do it ‘as soon as possible,’ pointing out timing doesn’t depend only on him. Though he did say he is an “advocate for putting an end to the criminalisation of abortion.”
“I would like that the debate is not one between progressives and conservatives, revolutionaries and traditionalists. It’s a problem of public health that we should resolve,” he said.
