Disappointed final-year Tweneboa Kodua Senior High School (SHS) students have expressed their displeasure at their headmaster, Mr. John Asante over his strict invigilation during the sitting of the Integrated Science paper.
The students on Monday, 3 August 2020, demonstrated against the headmaster for being strict on them during the sitting of their first paper in the just-started West Africa Secondary School Certificate Exams (WASSCE).
The students in a viral video were seeing ‘chanting’ and destroying the school’s properties at the dining hall.
Police were later called in to restore calm as the protest nearly halted the Paper 2 of the Integrated Science exam.
Confirming the incident, the District Chief Executive (DCE) of Sekyere Kumawu, Mr Addai Agyekum, in an interview on Kumasi FM said: “I learned there were misunderstandings between the students and the teachers, but I was able to move in quickly and resolved the matter”.
The DCE, however, noted that he spoke to the invigilators to do their work in a very friendly atmosphere “without sacrificing legitimate discipline.”
