The leader of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama has filed a petition to the Supreme Court of Ghana to order for re-election between the two major political parties.

According to John Dramani Mahama, non of the two Presidential candidates acquired the required threshold percentage to become the next president of the Republic of Ghana.
With this petition, Mahama and the NDC seek to aquire an injuction that stops Nana Addo from being sworn in as President come January 7.
The petition was delivered by Sammy Gyamfi and other heads of the party to the Supreme Court on December 23, 2020, beating the 21 day period as ordered by the court.

The NDC has however stated that their grounds for rejecting the results of the elections are as a result of major malpractices and incompetence by the Electoral Commission.
