To honour the memory of its late founder, Flt. Lt. J J Rawlings, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), will hold a vigil today, November 15.
This vigil will take place at the Obra Spot from 5pm through to midnight.
This was made known to the public after the Political Committee of the party met to deliberate about the passing of the founder. The decision was put out in a press statement signed by the party’s General Secretary, Asiedu Nketiah.
Also in the statement, the party expressed shock at the sudden passing of their founder. They have therefore opened a book of condolence in their various regional and constituency offices and instructed that all flags fly at half mast until the funeral is over.
“The NDC is in deep shock following the sudden demise of our founder Flt. Lt. Jerry John Rawlings, former President of the Republic of Ghana. We honour the life of this bold, courageous, and outspoken icon who was driven by a deep love for his country and the downtrodden.”
“It also resolved to begin the funeral activities for the founder immediately and continue through till his burial. Party offices will also be dapped in red and black, and party flags will fly at half-mast during our period of mourning,” The statement said.
