Emmanuel Nkansah Ansong, the award-winning Ghanaian standup comedian known as Lekzy DeComic, has been unmasked as the individual behind the trending billboards featuring the inscription “The New False.”
During a brief unveiling ceremony at the Grand Casamora Cafe in Accra, Lekzy DeComic disclosed that the billboard campaign was a deliberate publicity stunt to promote his forthcoming comedy show. The show is scheduled for September 28, 2024, at the UPSA Auditorium in Accra.
Explaining his decision to employ this strategy, Lekzy DeComic cited the context of an election year in Ghana, aiming to capitalize on the heightened attention and curiosity surrounding political activities. He emphasized that the upcoming comedy show would provide genuine entertainment value, urging Ghanaians to attend in large numbers.
The mysterious “New False” billboards, which appeared in various parts of Accra, sparked speculation among locals. Some speculated that it might be associated with a new political party attempting to disrupt Nana Bediako’s “New Force” in the 2024 elections.
The official flyer for the “New False Show” features Lekzy DeComic riding an elephant, holding an umbrella in one hand, and holding a mask in the other hand. The imagery is complemented by butterflies swimming around him.
Organizers have set gate fees at 150ghc for regular seats and 200ghc for VIP seats.
Additionally, Lekzy DeComic has committed to donating 5% of the gate proceeds from the “New False” comedy show to Beyond Burns International, a Ghanaian-based NGO dedicated to raising awareness, advocating for burn survivors, and providing support.
