A 29-year-old lady identified as Joana Krah has been sentenced to six years imprisonment after she faked being kidnapped just so she can make money from her family.
The lady who was arrested after her plan failed revealed that she had faked the abduction on Friday, October 22, 2021, in a bid to extort GH¢5,000 from a relative but unfortunately ended up being arrested.
Joana was said to have been charged with deceiving a public officer and publication of fake news which led to the judge sitting on the case sentencing her to six years in prison.
The Takoradi Habour Circuit Court A presided over by his honour Michael Kwodjoe Ampoadu on Monday, October 25, 2021, gave their final verdict after the relative of Joana reported the fake kidnapping to the police which led to Joana coming out to confess that she faked her kidnapping.
Joana who was said to have conspired with two others known as Susan Awortwe and Francis Eshun– to fake her kidnapping were not brought to court with her.
