Kidnappers request for N500million Ransom For Abducted Niger Commissioner

The kidnappers of Mallam Idris Sani Mohammed, the Niger State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, have made contact with his family and are seeking N500 million in ransom.

When Mohammed was kidnapped from his home at around 11 p.m. on Sunday, the abductors were alleged to be celebrating after landing “a big fish.”

The state administration has called an extended security meeting at Government House, despite the fact that there has been no official update from the state government on the incident other than Alhaji Ahmed Matane, the Secretary to the State Government, confirming the kidnapping.

All of the state’s security heads are in attendance, and the meeting is being presided over by the Deputy Governor, Alhaji Mohammed Ketso.

Since the news of the commissioner’s kidnapping broke in Minna, the state capital, the Government House has been in a solemn mood, while there is a tense atmosphere inside the Ministry of Information, with staff observed in groups discussing the issue.
