Kan Dapaah says 10,000 security camera’s to be installed nationwide

Government is to install 10,000 security camera’s throughout the country, the sector minister has said.

Mr. Albert Kan Dapaah revealed that already the government has installed about 800 security cameras in the country as security measures taken to combat crime.

In his address to parliament about the state of Ghana’s secuity ahead of the general elections, Mr. Kan Dapaah said

“The first phase of the project led to the installation of 800 cameras in different parts of Accra. Mr Speaker, I can now announce that phase two of the project which is ongoing will lead to the installation of 10,000 additional cameras in all regional and district capitals.

He added that

“It is also going to support sensitive installations and also be deployed along all entry points of all the land borders of the country,”

The National security minister also stated that the project dubbed ‘Alpha Project’ was started by the erstwhile Mahama government aimed at installing high technology security cameras in major cities and towns” across the country.
