President Nana Akufo-Addo has expressed his excitement over parliament’s decision to shelve the idea of a new $200 million Parliamentary chamber following agitations by a section of the public.
The Nana Akufo-Addo made this announcement while addressing members of the Ghanaian community at the France-Ghana Business Forum in France on Monday.
The leadership of Parliament has come under severe criticism over its decision to construct a new Parliamentary Complex. Scores of Ghanaians, including Members of Parliament, both current and past, have criticised the move with many describing it as a misplaced priority.
After several days of agitations, Parliament had to bow to the pressure.
Acting Director of Public Affairs in Parliament, Kate Addo, in a series of media interviews Monday morning announced the decision by Parliament to shelve the intended move.
