The Ghana Black Stars will be playing their first match in 2019 AFCON competition against The Squirrels of Benin at the Ismailia Stadium today, Tuesday 25th June 2019 at 8:00 pm (Ghana Time).
According to renowned Ghanaian sports personality with Atinka Media, Sadick Adams, Coach Akwesi Appiah has benched the General Captain, Asamoah Gyan, and Kwadwo Asamoah in their debut game.
In the absence of Asamoah Gyan and the Inter Milan star, Kwadwo Asamoah, Sadick Adams revealed Coach Akwesi Appiah will be playing the new boys, Lumor Agbeyenu, Kasim Nuhu, and Thomas Agyepong.
Kasim Nuhu will partner John Boye in the Central defends. Lumor Agbeyenu will handle the left position back whiles Andy Yiadom takes the right-back position. Maritzburg United goalkeeper Richard Ofori will start as the lead Gola Keeper for the Black Stars.
As Mubarak Wakaso and Thomas Partey handles the midfield, Christian and Atsu, and Thomas Agyepong will control the wings. Captain Andre Dede Ayew and his brother Jordan Ayew complete the line-up.
