Charles Owusu Remembers Sir John As the Nation Mourns Rawlings

As Ghana and the world mourns the first President of the Fourth Republic, Flt. Lt. Jerry John Rawlings, who kicked the bucket on Thursday, November 12 after a short illness at the Korle Bu teaching Hospital, Charles Owusu, Head of Operations at the Forestry Commission couldn’t help but remember his former boss, Sir John.

Sir John, christened Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie, who used to be the General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party, died in the early days of the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Speaking in a panel discussion centered on the death of JJ Rawlings on Peace FM, Mr. Charles Owusu expressed how much he would have preferred Sir John alive even he was bound to a wheelchair.

“I wish Sir John is alive. He should even sit in a wheelchair but stay alive,”

He further urged people to be at peace with all men as death is inevitable.

“We will all taste death. It doesn’t matter how much money you have. It doesn’t matter the leadership realms you’re in,” He said.
