Anambra Police Station attacked by bandits amidst the IPOB’s sit at home order

Unknown gunmen stormed the Nnewi Police Area Command in Anambra State on Monday, taking away some weaponry despite the Indigenous People of Biafra’s (IPOB) complete compliance with the sit-at-home order.

IPOB had ordered a sit-at home in the South-East every Monday until its leader, Nnamdi Kanu is released from the grips of the Department of State Services.

The ‘Ghost Monday’ lockdown, according to the group, will also affect schools and marketplaces.

It threatened to halt commercial activity in the region and warned that those who disobeyed the order would face violence.

Gunmen raided the Nnewi station with seven vehicles around midday and engaged the police in a gun battle that lasted over an hour.

The attackers overcame the cops and hauled away their weapons, causing chaos among the citizens of the industrial city, according to reports.
