The police have rescued 10 of 16 traders who were kidnapped while returning from Akure on Saturday, November 7.
The women had gone to one of their Iyalaje, Iyalojas meeting and were coming back when they were seized by some gunmen who later demanded a ransom of N11m.
Among the kidnapped traders was Mrs Hellen Edward, the Iyaloja of Isua Akoko.
The police had to engage in a gun battle with the kidnappers before succeeding in rescuing the 10 traders. 6 more traders remain in the custody of the kidnappers. Four of the criminals were also arrested.
ASP Tee-Leo Ikoro, speaking on behalf of the Ondo police command has said that efforts are being made to rescue the six remaining traders.
