Ghana’s Sanitation Minister, Madam Cecilia Abena Dapaah has left Ghanaian in a state of shocking following a ‘hilarious’ comment she made concerning how clean Accra is, in a recent interview.
Speaking on Asempa94.7 FM’s Ekosii Sen programme, Madam Cecilia Abena Dapaah said the promise to make Accra the cleanest city in Accra is still on cause.
“Accra is 85% clean; now you don’t see heaps of refuse on the street because we have provided bins across the capital,” she said.
To buttress her statement, she said the days where the capital city of the Republic of Ghana, Accra was engulfed with filth were overdue to massive work done by the Ministry in collaboration with waste management companies.
She made reference to how Accra became very clean when the government imposed a partial lockdown due to the outbreak of coronavirus.
The Minister further encouraged the private sector to invest in the waste management sector since “waste is wealth”.
She also urged Ghanaians to refrain from the practice of littering gutters, warning that the full rigours of the law will be hard on offenders.
