BREAKING: Total of 6 cases of coronavirus confirmed in Ghana

The Government of Ghana has confirmed the health service has confirmed a total of six cases of Coronavirus COVID-19 in Ghana.

This was revealed by the Ministry of Health today at the press briefing on the state of the nation with respect to the recent outbreak of coronavirus.

On Thursday, March 12, 2020, two cases of COVID-19 were confirmed in Ghana being the first batch of cases in the West African country.

The Director of Public Health at the Ghana Health Service has confirmed four more cases of the deadly coronavirus in the country.

At a press conference on Sunday to announce the new developments, Dr Badu Sarkodie said these new cases like the previous two were imported into the country.

Just yesterday, the third and fourth cases were both recorded. The third case is a female student who traveled to America and Turkey to study.

The fourth case involves a miner who flew to the country and traveled by air to Obuasi.

The other two cases, making it six cases in all were confirmed just last night, it involves a 42-year-old man who traveled to Ghana from Switzerland on the 8th of March.

The sixth case involves a 41-year-old Ghanaian who traveled to Germany and Turkey before coming to Ghana. He showed symptoms of COVID-19 at the Tema General Hospital on the 14th of March, 2020.

According to the director, Dr Badu Sarkodie, all 6 individuals showed no signs of COVID-19 on arrival at the borders of the country.

Mechanisms to identify contacts made by all six patients are underway.
