All the Southern Nigerian governors held a behind-closed-door meeting earlier this afternoon. One of the main agenda(s) behind the meeting was the need for the next Nigerian president to come from the South.

Aside from the aforementioned keypoint, other important matters such as security, open grazing, petroleum industry bill etc were also discussed.

Take a critical look at all the crucial topics that were discussed by the southern governors during their behind closed door meeting.

Next President – According to the Southern governors, the next Nigeria president should come from the South. On thier authority, there’s a rotation between the north and south as far as the presidency is concerned hence the next president for 2023 should be their clan.

Security – On the matter of security, the southern governors also arrived at the decision that they need to form their own State Police, against the federal police system of Nigeria.

Cattle grazing – And by Wednesday, 1 September 2021, the Southern Governors forum has made it clear to the Fulanis that an anti-open grazing law will take effect in its member states.

Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB) Law – The GF has also rejected the proposed 3% support money that communities that have oil will take from the government and instead they want 5% of the revenue the oil will generate.

Elections – SGF also raised concerns as to how they strongly believe that the electoral act should get a compulsory electronic transmission of results.

Some of the popular governors who attended the event were Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State; Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State; Gboyega Oyetola of Osun State; and Edo State deputy governor Philip Shaibu.
