Ghana’s senior minister, Yaw Osafo-Marfo reportedly withdraws from Akufo-Addo government

According to an exclusive report by Asaase News, Ghana’s Senior Minister, Yaw Osafo Maafo has reportedly withdrawn himself from Akuf-Addo’s cabinet in his second tenure in the office of the presidency.

According to the report, Yaa Osafo Maafo made his intentions known to both the lead members of the ruling NPP government and Nana Addo himself.

The ace politician served as a Member of Parliament for Akim Oda (1997 to 2009). He was also amongst the chief whips who tirelessly fought for Nana Addo to become the president in 2016.

Mr Yaw Osafo Maafo was the country’s senior minister from 2017-2020. The Senior Minister’s role was first introduced into the Ghanaian body politic by President John Agyekum Kufuor in 2001.

The NPP stalwart previously served as Finance Minister and in other cabinet roles in the Kufuor administration between 2001 and 2009.
