Akufo Addo has to step down as the president – Ben Ephson suggests

Famed Ghanaian journalist and political analyst, Ben Ephson, has suggested Nana Addo should step down in 2023 prior to 2024’s genetal elections under the disguise health related issues.

Because that is the only way to come to an agreement on who will succeed Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party(NPP) in 2024.

Speaking on Angel FM in Accra, he opined that the Ashantis will not vote if Bawumia is to win the primaries. Likewise, if Alan Kyeremanten wins, the people of the North will not vote.

He is reported to have said;

There is the only one possibility for consensus-building on a decision on who replaces Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. The President has to step down on health reasons for Dr Mahamudu Bawumia to be sworn in as a President. Then Bawumia will pick Alan Kyeremanten as his Vice. I think Alan Kyeremanten will then support Bawumia during the party’s primaries,

Ashantis will not vote if Bawumia wins the primaries. Also, if Kyeremanten wins, the people of the North will also not vote. They will trigger the perception that NPP uses the North and dump them like they did to Alhaji Aliu Mahama

He argued that when Akufo Addo does what he has proposed, Dr Bawumia can successfully succeed him and win the 2024 polls with ease.
