Ghana has dropped 30 places compared to the slot we bagged during last year’s rankings. Ghana has been ranked 95th in the just-released 2021 World Happiness Report.
Earlier last year, Ghana was ranked as the 65th happiest country in the world but unfortunately, this year’s position speaks volumes about the current state of affairs of the country.
African countries such as Mauritius had the 50th position, Libya at the 80th position, Ivory Coast at the 85th position, the Republic of Congo at the 83rd position, and Cameroon at the 91st position citing from to the UN-sponsored ranking.
However, Finland has managed to retain the title of the happiest place on Earth for a fourth year running whereas, Afghanistan is the world’s unhappiest place at the 149th position.
Many people have attributed Ghana’s drop in position to the recent #Fixthecountry protest that has been trending on the internet for the past two weeks and counting.
The protest aims at seeking better governance from our leaders because citizens are currently suffering from both financial and economic crisis hence making them unhappy.
