Why Burna Boy didn’t win the Grammy Award – Media Personality Explains

Nigerian media personality Shade Ladipo has opened up the eyes of Nigerians regarding why singer Burna Boy lost the Grammy award to Angelique Kidjo at 2020 Grammys.

Beninese music legend Angelique Kidjo was announced winner for the ‘Best World Music Album’ after a fierce competition with Nigeria’s Burna Boy and other top musicians.

Following Angelique Kidjo’s announcement as winner many Nigerian music lovers have slammed the academy at Grammys for cheating Burna Boy including top American model Naomi Campbell.

Contrary to the opinions of many, popular media practitioner Shade Ladipo is of the view Burna Boy was not yet qualified for such an award.

She addressed Burna Boy’s loss in a video she shared on her Instagram page with a caption to reiterate her argument.

She added: “If Fela was alive, Fela and Angelique Kidjo, they’re mates.”

She went on to reiterate that the person Burna Boy looks up to – Fela – is the one in the same league as Angelique.

Sharing the video, she wrote:

“#MyFellowHumans
It’s been a minute but I had to just drop this video real quick
For the Burna Boy fans who claim he has been cheated, pls know your history, know your music
Burna is a great artiste but it takes more than 1 Album and 2 years of Faux touring the US to become the standard for World Music
