We’re Ready For Media Attacks – Minister of Education

The Minister of Educationapohas indicated that his outfit is well-positioned to repel the sustained media attacks directed at it in the past few weeks.

Speaking at the National Congress of the University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG) Kumasi, Dr Opoku said the Education Ministry is the most attacked by the public but has the capacity to contain it.

“Attack on Free SHS, some radio stations and media are cataloguing schools that are in a state of disrepair. Going to catalogue E-Blook schools that are uncompleted, dramatizing issues about placement, putting out outright fabrication on Comprehensive sexuality education. So the media whether it is placement, it looks like the Ministry of Education is suffering from a barrage of attacks. But what I can say with certainty is that we are ready for it. We believe that the sunlight will rather expose the diligent work that has been done.”

The Ministry of Education has dominated the headlines in the media in the past month after challenges of placing first-year senior High school Students forced parents to sleepover at the Independence Square where a solution centre had been situated.

The Ministry of Education and the government has come under severe public backlash in the past week after news broke of the introduction of the Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE).

Many Ghanaians are calling on the education ministry to withdraw it as there are fears that the introduction of the CSE will indoctrinate children to accept Lesbianism, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender.
