President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has said that the government will as to whether not to extend the lockdown imposed on Accra, Kumas, and Kasoa next week.
The president in a national broadcast on Sunday [April 5, 2020] said the decision will be based mainly on the results of the over 19,000 tests that have been conducted due to the enhanced contact tracing exercise.
He further mentioned that 15,385 out of 19,276 contact persons had been reached through the enhanced contact tracing and their samples have been taken.
“[This] will determine our future terms of action,” he noted.
Akufo-Addo declared a partial lockdown of Accra and Kumasi effective 1 am on Monday, March 30, 2020.
The lockdown which affects Accra, Tema and Kumasi will last for two weeks.
