The boss of 3Music Awards, Sadiq Abdulai Abu has replied those who have questioned the credibility of the 3Music Awards after the last edition when Shatta Wale scooped 11 awards.
Shatta Wale made history when he bagged 11 awards at the 2019 3Music Awards which raised doubtful eyebrows.
Although it’s widely known the Dancehall act is a great artiste and deserved to be celebrated, most of the awards he won were questionable which ultimately put a dent on the award’s image.
But responding to this in a new interview with blogger Zionfelix, Sadiq said processes do occur before the announcement of winners, besides the board of award scheme plays a critical role to ensure the credibility of it.
He also debunked rumours that they share the awards evenly amongst artists in order for all of them to benefit from the scheme.
“It goes beyond me. We have a board who are power decision-makers. They give directions and ensure that the right things are done,” he stated.
As the board of the scheme was embarking on a trip to Akosombo for a review meeting on Saturday, the 3 Music Awards Boss stressed they have the power scrutinize everything regarding the awards.
He added that he can only make proposals but he is not the final decision-maker. Sadiq even indicated that the board is so powerful that they turn down some of his proposals.
