A District Chief Executive appointed under the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) has given explanations to the ‘One Constituency, $1m’ promise made by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) during the 2016 campaign.

Madam Comfort A. Attah, District Chief Executive (DCE) for Biakoye District in the Oti Region said that Ghanaians misunderstood the ‘One Constituency, $1m’ promise made by the flagbearer of the then opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

In her explanation she said, many thought the government was literally going to put $1m on the table for every constituency in the country which was a misunderstanding.

She clarified that the government One Constituency, $1m was already underway through the Coastal Development Authority and that the policy was meant to create a gateway fo all constituencies to benefit from the developmental projects but not to put ‘money’ on the tables of every constituency.

She further said that her district was already benefiting from the initiative through the Coastal Development Authority.

She said this during the ‘Meet the Press’ event at Nkonya Ahenkro in the Biakoye District of the Oti Region.

She outlined some projects her district has benefited from as a result of the One Constituency, $1m initiative.

She mentioned the construction and furnishing of a district court, construction and furnishing of a Two-Bedroom apartment for a Magistrate at Kwamekrom and the construction of a District Police Headquarters at Nkonya Ahenkro as some benefits her district has enjoyed from the initiative.
