The Inauguration of the 8th Parliament of Ghana is currently underway on Thursday, January 7, 2021.

At exactly 12:00am on January 7 2021 as the constitution demands, the 7th Parliament of Ghana was dissolved to make way for the inauguration of the 8th Parliament under the fourth republic.

The ongoing sitting is being chaired by the clerk to parliament since the speaker of the 8th parliament of Ghana is yet to be elected by the elected members of parliaments.

Honourable Alban Bagbin has been nominated by NDC’s Haruna Iddrisu to be elected as Speaker.

NPP will also nominate Honourable Aaron Mike Quaye who was the speaker of the 7th Parliament of Ghana to be elected as Speaker of the 8th Parliament.
