Former President Donald Trump has announced his intention to turn himself in on Thursday to a Georgia court to face charges of election interference.
A judge in Atlanta, overseeing the case, has set a bail of $200,000, allowing Trump to remain free pending trial under the condition that he does not attempt to threaten or intimidate witnesses.
The charges against Trump include racketeering and false statements, totaling 13 counts. The court order specifically prohibits Trump from posting on social media or reposting related content. The order was signed by Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis, who is overseeing the case, and lawyers representing Trump.
Trump responded to the developments on his social media platform, Truth Social, characterizing the situation as a “WITCH HUNT” and suggesting coordination with the Department of Justice under President Joe Biden. He also commented humorously on the possibility of flying on his branded airplane.
Fulton County Sheriff’s Office has announced a “hard lockdown” in the surrounding county jail area when Trump surrenders. Barricades have been erected outside the court in anticipation of his surrender. The 19 accused, including Trump, have until noon local time on Friday to turn themselves in for processing.
Donald Trump faces charges of attempting to subvert Georgia’s election results following his 2020 loss to Democrat Joe Biden. A phone call revealed him pressuring Georgia’s Republican Secretary of State to “find 11,780 votes.” Trump has denied wrongdoing, calling the charges politically motivated.

State-by-state primaries for the Republican nominee are set to begin in January 2024.
The situation continues to evolve, and further updates are expected as the legal proceedings progress.
