Rapper Tory Lanez Charged For Allegedly Being Involved In The Shooting Of Megan Thee Stallion

Popular Canadian rapper and singer Tory Lanez has been charged on two counts for being involved in the shooting of colleague artist Megan Thee Stallion.

According to Los Angeles prosecutors, Lanez shot at Megan Thee Stallion’s feet and hit her, after she left in an SUV during a fight in the Hollywood Hills on July 12, 2020.

Prosecutors say the rapper faces two felony chargers – assault with a semiautomatic firearm and carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle.

The complaint states Lanez “inflicted great bodily injury” on Megan Thee Stallion during their encounter.

He was arrested the night of the shooting but released after posting bail. Prosecutors are recommending that his bail be set at $1.1 million at his arraignment.

Megan had already declined to name Lanez as the shooter in her several social media posts for about a month until on August 20, when she admitted in an Instagram video that “Yes … Tory shot me,” and urged him to “stop lying” about the incident.

Tory Lanez is set to appear before the Los Angeles court on Tuesday. If found guilty of the charges, he faces a maximum sentence of roughly 23 years.
