Stonebwoy pulled a gun at VGMA exactly 1 year ago

Exactly a year today in the history of Ghana’s entertainment, the worst thing happened at Ghana’s biggest award ceremony, VGMA, as Stonewboy pulled a gun while on stage at VGMA 2019.

It was exactly a year today that Ghana saw the worst on National Tv and the Accra International Conference Centre as the 20th edition of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards was brought to a halt.

This was after Stonebwoy pulled a gun on stage at the VGMAs after Shatta Wale and his entourage stormed the stage over a reason that is still unclear till date.

Before The Unfortunate Incident:

Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale had a long-standing feud which has triggered emotions and a lot of banter between both artistes on both social and traditional media.

Stonebwoy in an interview on Sunday, 9 September 2019, Lambasted Shatta Wale for accusing him of killing his own mother and he further sent a stern warning shots to Shatta Wale to put a stop to such unsubstantiated allegations.

“You go and say I killed my mother and come back and text me that you want peace, you want to make music?,” Stonebwoy said on Hitz FM.

President of BhimNation dared Shatta Wale to ‘come and stand’ in front of him and accuse of him of killing his mother. He threatened that the end would be ‘beautiful’.

This had caused a lot of heat prior to the event in 2019 which saw Shatta’s return to the VGMAs since he was banned from the event in 2016, and also with a history of fighting Kaakie over an award in 2013.

What Happened In 2019?

It happened that Stonebwoy won the Reggae- Dancehall artiste of the year for the fifth time in a row. But what made his fifth win a special one was the fact that this time around, it was right under Shatta Wale’s nose.

Prior to Stonebwoy’s win, Shatta Wale had received two awards, but this very category represents the crown that both artistes have been fighting over for the past five years, and for Stonebwoy to win it for the fifth time was a big blow to the SM boss.

As Stonebwoy made his way to the stage to receive his award, Shatta Wale and his entourage, for no reason at all, also walked towards the stage – which was highly uncalled for.

Feeling his life was under threat, Stonebwoy’s former manager, Blakk Cedi, launched some punches on some SM members.

But one should be reminded that at this point, no one knew what triggered the fight, but the only established fact is that Shatta and his gang approached the stage in a violent and alarming manner.

Stonebwoy, in the cause of the heated exchanges and fight between his former, Blakk Cedi, and some members of the SM family, pulled a gun from a small bag that was handed over to him by his security guard upon his own request.

After the incident:

Both Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale were heavily bashed by the public and the press. They were also invited by the police to write their statements.

The VGMA board also reviewed what happened and requested that both artistes should be stripped off their awards, as well us giving them an indefinite ban.

Both Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale were made to form a new bond and put aside their differences at a peace conference which was held few weeks after their display at the 2019 VGMA.
