Social Media Users Share Their Divided Opinions On Manasseh’s Claim That The NDC Abandoned JJ Rawlings

The sudden death of former President Jerry John Rawlings has brought a lot of issues with regards to how he should be buried. As usual, many self-acclaimed experts have started sharing ideas as to why he should be given a state burial or otherwise. Former Multimedia investigative journalist, socialite, and author, Manasseh Azure Awuni has caused a stir on Facebook with a post concerning the death of the former leader and longest-serving President in Ghana.

Manasseh Azure Awuni’s post read;

Why fight over the funeral of a man who fell out with your party long before his death? He was closer to Akufo-Addo than you.

After the above comment, a lot of responds came from the fans. See some of them below;

1.
Masa
What party does he belong to.
He holds NDC membership card.
Assume your papa dies and his best friend wants to take over the funeral.
Does it make sense?

2.
Later Day Saints? Was he not still Founder of the Party ? He was still chairman the Council of Elders before his death . In any case the same people particularly Nana Addo who demonized him took away his privileges which was later restored by the NDC are the once you are dreaming for ? Ghanaians definitely have short memory!

3.
You are right. It could be that he told his family on his sick bed in case he doesn’t survive they should allow the state led by the competent , kindhearted, visionary and indefatigable president Nana Addo to organise his funeral and do everything possible to prevent the NDC to come close or to be involved in his funerals, who knows? So the NDC should relegate themselves from the background and allow the state to give this man a befitting state’s burial…

4.
It is so clear that before the death of Jerry John Rawlings he found more solace and comfort in the NPP than his own party.

He was annihilated to the extent that he came out complaining about babies with sharp teeth.
Asiedu Nketiah referred to him as a barking dog. Mahama called him a Volta God.

President Rawlings body is for the state and funeral affairs should be handled by the state.
NDC should spare govt the bitter cry!

5.
What are you saying here, Mr Awuni? Was he not the founder of NDC? Don’t they have right?
When NDC were announcing their candidature for presidential candidate and vice presidential candidate, Rawlings was formally informed as the founder of the party. Until his death, he was the chairman of the council of elders of the party.
So don’t come here with empty noise as though the NDC has no right at all.

What is your take on this?
