Shatta Wale reacts to claims that Government paid him Ghc100,000 for COVID-19 virtual concert performance (video)

Ace Dancehall artist, Shatta Wale has finally reacted to claims that he was paid Ghc100,000 for his 30mins performance at the just ended Covid-19 virtual concert.

Shatta Wale, Kuami Eugene, Fancy Gadam, Great Ampong, Lucky Mensah, Diana Asamoah, and others performed at the Ministry of Communication’s COVID-19 virtual concert which came off on Monday, April 13, 2020.

The concert was held by the ministry to create awareness on the deadly virus and officially launch the Covid-19 tracker app.

Hours after the concert, a report emerged that the dancehall artist was paid Ghc100,000 for his performance. It was also reported that the likes of Kuami Eugene, Fancy Gadam and others were given Ghc40,000 and below.

Though Gov’t had earlier aired that the artistes billed to perform were not going to be paid and that they were just going to perform for free, a social media user with the handle Kofi Bamfo stated on Facebook, that Gov’t’s statement was a lie as he claimed a fight broke out in the studios of GhOne TV over payment between artistes yesterday after the concert.

In a comment section, the user revealed that some artistes got furious with the organizers of the virtual concert after they paid Shatta Wale Ghc 100,000 and they receiving Ghc 40,000.

Reacting to these comments, Shatta Wale revealed that though he really likes money and had earlier said he wouldn’t do anything for the government for free, he had to perform at the virtual concert for free.

According to the musician, his godfather called him and told him about the concert and the ministry’s intentions to put him on the bill without any payment in return.

Shatta said his performance was his own small way of showing his support in helping the Government fight the deadly virus by creating the needed awareness.

In a live video, the musician spilled all the words so as to prove he really did not take any money from the ministry of communication or the government.
