Seven Arrested Over Fake Recruitment in Accra

The Accra Police command has arrested some seven people for allegedly scamming about 1,500 people in the name of recruiting them to countries including Spain, UAE and other countries.

According to DSP Efia Tenge, PRO of the Accra Police Command, they received a tip off that some 1500 people had gathered at Spintex for an illegal purpose.

When the patrol team of the police got there, they realized that the suspects were collecting GHC10 and passports from each of the 1,500 people who had come from the Bono Region, in the name of giving them jobs in the above named countries.

The suspects including one Spanish are as follows;

Mario Joseph Granell Nortinez, 52, a Spanish; David Jawara, 63; TriouYurin, 36; Wishwell Ahidri Esela, 37; Gifty Darrye Hughes, 50; Zainab Iddrisu, 44; and Abigail Asamoah, 29.

They could not produce any legal document backing their recruitment. They are currently in the custody of the police for further investigations.

DSP Tenge has therefore warned the public to be careful about such recruitment scams.
