President of Senegal, Macky Sall has taken his COVID-19 jab live on television.

Senegal has vaccinated 4,000 people since it launched its vaccination campaign two days ago, following the arrival of 200,000 doses of China’s Siopharm vaccine.

Mr Sall said the government bought the vaccine and did not wait to receive doses from the World Health Organization’s Covax scheme, which aims to make it easier for developing nations to purchase them.

The West Afrian State is expecting a further six million doses of the vaccine.
