Imprisoned singer R. Kelly has reportedly been attacked by a fellow inmate, his lawyer confirmed.
Doug Anton, an attorney for Kelly, told CNN that the singer’s legal team had been advised by the US Attorney’s Office that the singer was on his bed in his cell Tuesday at Chicago’s Metropolitan Correctional Center when another inmate came in and started to punch him.
The fight did not last long. The inmate punched Kelly because he was angry about the facility being on lockdown multiple times because of people protesting Kelly on the outside.
The jailed singer was looked at by a doctor and had no serious injuries, TMZ reported.
Kelly, 53, remains in jail since being indicted on federal child pornography, obstruction of justice and racketeering charges last year.
