Jamaican songwriter, Andre Jay Sutherland, known professionally as Popcaan was seen in the streets of Accra smoking weed – an illegal substance.
In Ghana, weed/marijuana is yet to be legalized. This means any one who is seen/caught smoking weed in Ghana has 95% chance of being arrested by the Ghana police service.
However, a recent video of the Jamaican singer, Popcaan has got Ghanaians wondering whether the laws are only to be abided by the average Ghanaian citizen.
Why that? Well, the Jamaican artist who has spent 9 days already in Ghana was seen smoking weed in public – like Kwaw Kese did some years ago and ended up in prison.
Interestingly, the Jamaican star in question was smoking right in front of police officers who were supposed to enforce the law but completely ignored.
Had this same action been replicated by a Ghanaian, he or she would have been arrested.
This obscene display by the police officers who were present has got Ghanaians on social media talking about how the police service operates.
