Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has charged on the sitting president Nana Addo – Dankwa Akufo Addo to prosecute all the people who engage in galamsey since he knows them.
According to the Asante Kingdom overlord, stakeholders should be truthful for once in the fight against illegal small-scale mining in the country.
The highly revered traditional leader also indicated that the government should muster the courage to call out people who are involved in the act of illegal mining since they are known.
Whiles speaking on galamsey in a durbar, he said;
I told them that…If you are not truthful, we will keep deceiving ourselves and be organizing conferences such as this,” he said. Otumfuo Osei Tutu II said chiefs who are complicit in the act of illegal mining must know it is wrong and desist from the act.
The Asantehene further gave indications that he will deal with his sub-chiefs found to be complicit in the activities of illegal mining. On my part, I have already warned my Chiefs and elders against participation in such illegalities, and I will not hesitate to strongly sanction any such infraction
