The Cyberabad Cyber Crime Police of India have captured three alleged fraudsters including a Nigerian professional footballer, for duping an NGO worker and others on the appearance of sending them gifts.
The arrested people are Nonso Chife Kelvin, 40, dwelling in New Delhi, Mohd Sirajuddeen Raein and Subhash Singh, both from Delhi.
The three key accused including a Nigerian national are still absconding.
The accused were captured on Monday, November 2, following a complaint made by the NGO worker who was tricked of Rs 16 lakh through gift parcel fraud.
As indicated by the police, on October 12, Sailaja, head of an NGO, associated with preparing ladies in instructing computer courses, lodged a complaint with cyber crime team of Cyberabad claiming that on September 28, she got a companion demand on Facebook from James Donald of Germany. Presenting himself as a Berlin-based specialist, James valued Sailaja’s work and they before long began visiting on WhatsApp.
On September 30, he sent a photograph of a bag to Sailaja saying that it was a gift parcel and that the bundle was at IGI Airport in Delhi.
The following day, the lady got a call from another blamed who claimed to be traditions official and he educated her that so as to profit off the blessing she needs to make an instalment of Rs 16 lakh towards enlistment expenses, protection, lawful charges, value change charges and so forth Accepting the individual the lady made the instalment, said G Venkateshwarlu, Inspector of CCS.
After the casualty made the instalment the denounced pack fled, so she got dubious of the misrepresentation and recorded a grumbling.
“In view of the protest, an examination was completed and the three denounced people were captured from Delhi and brought to the city on detainee travel warrant and were reserved under Sections 417, 419, 420 of IPC and segment 66 (C&D) of IT Act and were remanded to legal guardianship,” said Venkateshwarlu.
During cross-examination, Nonso told police that he and the other charged have been working for VIP nom de plume Ejike of Nigeria for a commission.
