Social media influencer Abena Magis also known as Abena Manokekame was recently arrested over fraudulent charges.
Her younger brother took to social media to appeal for funds to get her a bail of ¢11k.
Anyway, Abena explained her side of things in a long essay below;
“I was with Obrempong and lived with him. He was importing items from China way before I met him and did imports for people. We partnered up and a romance brewed between us so were working together.
Gift Crank knew me from the page and asked to get someone to import for her and I introduced her to Obrempong. He started importing for her and her friends, Diana and Araba. The MOQ kept delaying so I decided to also set up a group and also order items which I announced on my pages and people joined my Telegram groups. (I usually share some of the items when they reach here for people to buy).
Now, some of the items kept delaying. I’ll ask and he’ll say it’s the shipping companies causing delays. The ladies will call him but he won’t pick so they’ll call me and I’ll have to nag and nag before he’ll call. I kept telling him that you don’t treat people like that. Give information because that’s what they want. They’ll ask me if he’s bought the items. I’ll ask him and he’ll say yes. He kept saying yes saaa.
I’ll be there and he’ll tell me so and so items are in. I’ll inform my group to expect the items and that’s it. The last time which Diana and Araba know, he said blenders, digital flasks and some items are in but the shipping company, KGL have moved their office from Dansoman Mateheko to Kasoa Nyanyano. I told him I want to go with him. This guy kept giving excuses for a week until I got the hint the shipping company is actually st Mamprobi. I traced the office and went there. It was only the digital flasks that were there. They told me they never moved their office to Kasoa Nyanyano but its rather a container of goods they took there.
I called Obrempong, the shipping company called him. He didn’t pick saaa till I left. They told me I can’t pay to take the items because I’m not the one they’re dealing with. Later, they called hours after I left that he’s agreed for me to take the items. I paid 350ghc to clear these items after he’d told me shipping fee was over 2000ghc. These are the lies he kept feeding me with. Obrempong have you bought this item? He’ll say yes. Yet, here we dey.
So I also started shipping items myself to clear the backlog of goods he didn’t buy for those in my Telegram group. I initially started buying them thinking that since he had insisted that he’s bought all the items then when the items he’s bought finally arrives, then I can sell off those to defray those costs. Now, I know finally after months of lies that he didn’t buy half of the items.
I’ve always maintained my innocence because I haven’t used any body’s money. Money sent to me was given to him. I’ve been cursed, insulted, my pages tagged but do I blame them? No. These are people’s monies. Monies paid over months. Obrempong will take, buy some and refuse to buy the rest.
Even though we’ve lived at Ayi Mensah for almost 2 years, i couldn’t stand him and this situation but due to rent issues couldn’t move out. Two months ago, I spoke to a friend around Amrahia to see if he could get me a place to stay for a few months but unfortunately he couldn’t help me.
Then last week, a friend helped me out to stay at Kasoa which is where I am now with my daughter. I organize tours and add my profit but due to the dollar inflation rate I canceled this month ending tour because I started advertising late last month. If not, I could have raised some money from those going to Dubai to defray some of the debts.
I’m a confused human being but I keep saying that I’ll never blame Diana and Araba. They trusted Obrempong and myself that they’ll get their items. Yet here we are. I have started shipping myself but I’m too late. I told Obrempong that I make money from adverts. When you realised that you hadn’t bought their items, why didn’t you tell me something to give you money to buy them? Even if you’d bought all of them and I was to pay the shipping fees, we wouldn’t be hear.
So now you understand why I said I won’t date again? If you date the wrong person that man will disgrace you.”
