Never Call Me A Kumawood Actress – Actress Portia Asare

Actress Portia Asare Boateng who has been off the scenes for some years now is back but is asking the public not to refer to her as a Kumawood actress.

The mother of two in a chat with Zionfelix has said there is no movie industry in the country called Kumawood so she cannot fathom why the public and the media will refer to actors from Kumasi as Kumawood actors. To her, Kumawood is a company owned by Samdackus so she does not expect it to be given to the movie industry.

Portia Asare boldly declared that she has a problem with people who describe movies shot in the local dialect as Kumawood Films because they are rather promoting another person’s brand since Kumawood is an entity for one busiinessman but not a name officially accepted for the movies from Kumasi.

She asked the public to box all actors in the country and call the Ghanaian actors instead of trying to different those who act using the dialect from their colleagues who use the Queen’s language.

Aside Portia, many actors from Kumasi in the past have spoken against the name Kumawood tag given them.
